Find typing the keys on a touchscreen device to be a hit-or-miss experience? Google thinks it has a fix.
The company on Thursday unveiled “Handwrite,” a new search feature that allows smartphone and tablet users to “draw” the letters of their search queries in with their fingers. Check out a video of Google Handwrite in action here:
The feature is free and available immediately for “iOS5+ devices, Android 2.3+ phones and Android 4.0+ tablets in 27 languages,” according to Google. To get it, go to the Google hompage on a touchscreen device, scroll to the bottom, click “Settings,” and then check “Enable” under “Handwrite.” Returning to the Google hompage, the user then must tap the lower right hand corner of the screen to pull up a cursive “G” button, and click this, to activate the feature.
