Game over: Boxer8, a startup planning to develop a new independent, open-sourced video game console called Ouya, based on Google’s Android operating system, has raised over $1 million dollars in its 8 hours of soliciting online donations on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter.
The massive fundraising drive, which had 8,843 backers as of Tuesday evening, fittingly breaks the previous Kickstarter fundraising record of $1 million obtained in less than 24 hours by Double Fine, a videogame development company, for a new adventure title.
