The Tammy Duckworth campaign says it has seen an increase in online donations in the wake of the attack by her opponent, Republican Rep. Joe Walsh, who implied that Duckworth — an Iraq war veteran who lost both her legs as a helicopter pilot — wasn’t a “true” hero because she talks about her military service.

Duckworth campaign manager Kaitlin Fahey confirmed to TPM that the campaign has received $85,000, in small amounts from 2,400 online donors, since Tuesday when the Walsh story first surfaced.

On average, Fahey said, the campaign might get a few thousand dollars online in a typical week.
