It’s finally here: Google on Thursday announced that later in the day, users would be able to download a version of its Chrome web browser for the Apple iPad and iPhone in the App Store.
The move is a huge coup for Google: Not only is Chrome already the most popular desktop browser in the world, it recently came to Android mobile devices. Apple is notoriously finicky about approving apps that replicate core functions that are already found on its devices, and alternate Web browsers like Firefox have had trouble getting onto Apple devices as a result. Google seems to found a way around that, although it remains to be seen just how the browser is implemented. Check the App Store later to find out.
