Kickstarter on Thursday unveiled a whole new feature, Kickstarter Stats, which shows the total number of dollars raised by all of the tens of thousands of projects ever posted on the website, as well as other useful information including the number of unsuccessful projects and a category-by-category breakdown of each. The page updates once a day.
So far, there have been $261 million dollars pledged in total on the website since its launch in 2009, and $219 have gone toward successful projects (no donations are accepted unless a project meets its funding goals, so presumably the outstanding $42 million is the amount pledged across all those ongoing projects that have yet to reach their goals).
Actually, as Kickstarter’s Stats page reveals, $27 million has been pledged in “Unsuccessful Dollars,” and $15 million to “Live Dollars,” or ongoing projects that have yet to meet their funding goals. Apologies for the error.
