According to Reuters, women in Saudi Arabia are set to renew protests focused on lifting the driving ban facing females in the country. The women initially began campaigning for ending the ban last year, which saw certain members arrested but did not result in reform.
The protests, which come after King Abdullah allowed women to vote in municipal council elections last year, are scheduled for June 29, though there was no indication as to how large it would be. Women are currently allowed international licenses, but women cannot receive local licenses and require a male guardian’s permission to travel abroad.
