Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill has reserved $3 million in airtime on statewide broadcast television for the final weeks of her campaign, reports Roll Call. The move allows the embattled senator to get the best placements at discount rates before Republicans even choose their nominee.
McCaskill will face the winner of a tight Republican primary between Rep. Todd Akin, former state treasurer Sarah Steelman and businessman John Brunner. The primary is Aug. 7. McCaskill has already seen millions in outside spending from Republican groups against her this cycle.
