Top EPA official Al Armendariz resigned on Sunday after Republicans targeted him over remarks he made in 2010 when he used the word “crucify” to describe his approach to enviromental regulation enforcement, the Associated Press reports.
In a letter to EPA chief Lisa Jackson, Armendariz waid he regretted his words and “stresses that they do not reflect his work as administrator of the five-state region including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana,” the AP reports.
