Fox News has projected Rick Santorum as the winner of the Mississippi primary — at an opportune moment for his victory speech.

Santorum was telling supporters in Louisiana about the work ahead in the Missouri caucuses, the Louisiana primary and other contests. He said that he hoped to win those contests as he did tonight in Alabama and hopefully Mississippi — at which point a supporter yelled out the news that they won.

The crowd then cheered, Santorum joined in their celebration, and he then resumed the closing of his speech.

With 88% of precincts reporting in Mississippi, Santorum has 33%, Gingrich 31%, Romney 30%, and Paul 4%.
