Obama campaign senior advisor Robert Gibbs said on Face the Nation Sunday that the GOP primary is hurting the Republicans but that the race will continue for a while yet. It’s “likely a matter of months,” he said.
Gibbs also said he doesn’t believe Mitt Romney is the inevitable nominee.
“Yesterday was instructive,” Gibbs said. When you have the support of Sen. Bob Dole of Kansas but only get 21% of the vote, “I think it shows you’ve got some real problems on the road to this nomination…I think anything is still highly possible.” Gibbs couldn’t rule out the possibility that the GOP has a nominee before the convention.
