A new Rasmussen poll of the Senate race in Nebraska shows the Republican candidates with landslide leads over the new Democratic candidate in the race — former Sen. Bob Kerry, who retired in 2000 after having served for two terms. Kerrey was succeeded by fellow Democrat Ben Nelson, who is now retiring this year.
The numbers: State Attorney General Jon Bruning 55%, Kerrey 33%; former state Attorney General and 2000 Senate nominee Don Stenberg 52%, Kerrey 34%; and state Sen. Deb Fischer 46%, Kerrey 34%.
Also, Kerrey’s favorable rating in this poll is only 43%, with 51% unfavorable.
The survey of likely voters was conducted on March 5, and has a ±4.5% margin of error.
