A debate on gay marriage in Maryland’s House of Delegates has been delayed until Thursday afternoon, Reuters reports:

The delay comes amid uncertainty over whether proponents of the “Civil Marriage Protection Act” have the 71 votes needed to advance it to the state Senate.

A vote on the bill could occur in the House on Friday.
