Astronaut Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), has sent out a fundraising e-mail for former Giffords staffer Ron Barber in the special election.

Giffords, who survived after she was shot in the head at a district event in January 2011, resigned her seat last month in order to focus on her recovery. Barber, who was also wounded in that incident, is running in the special election as a “caretaker” who will not seek a full term in the November general election.
