Newt Camp Projects Defiance

After the Newt Gingirch team announced the candidate would hold a post-caucus presser rather than a speech, rumors began to swirl that the former House Speaker would announce he was standing down.

However, the Newt campaign’s latest tweet certainly projects a sunnier disposition:

“As President I will defend religious freedom and fight against anti-religious bigotry. Join us! https://t.co/wt5lApyA #withnewt”

Meanwhile, Business Insider reports that Newt will use his presser tonight to announce a transition to a “delegates-based strategy.”

It’s worth pointing out, however, that such an announcement would likely be more spin over substance, since that has in many ways been the strategy all along, and especially since his loss in Florida made it clear it would be difficult to compete head-on as in South Carolina.
