Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum gets 21 percent nationally in a new poll of GOP voters from Rasmussen. Santorum was at four percent in the firm’s last national numbers from the very end of November, meaning he has quintupled his support after his stock rose during the campaign in Iowa and his near win.
Former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney leads the field with 29 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich sees 16 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) rounds out the candidates in double digits with 12.
But as always, the Republican race remains unsettled because voters aren’t completely committed to their choices. From Rasmussen:
It’s important to note that just 34% of likely GOP primary voters say they are certain of their vote at this time. Fifty-five percent (55%) say they still could change their mind, and 11% don’t have an initial preference yet. Those certain of their vote include 44% of Paul’s supporters, 43% of those who back Romney and 40% of Gingrich’s voters. Just 30% of those who support Santorum are certain of their vote at this time.
