President Donald Trump said that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) should resign after she wrote a tweet many considered anti-Semitic, also calling her apology “lame.”

“I think she should either resign from Congress or she should certainly resign from the House Foreign Affairs Committee,” Trump said, according to the White House pool report.

He reportedly added that her comments are “deep-seeded in her heart.”

Omar apologized via tweet on Monday.

Here’s a good rundown of the Omar’s original tweet and the resulting backlash.

It’s worth noting that Trump is no stranger to anti-Semitism, frequently peddling a conspiracy theory that billionaire George Soros was funding a caravan of immigrants traveling to the U.S. southern border.
