FORT LEE, N.J. (AP) — Some northern New Jersey residents have returned to the scene of a notorious traffic jam.

About a dozen people took part in a news conference Tuesday near the base of the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee. The group included some people who say they were caught in traffic there in September due to bridge closures that have created a major controversy in Gov. Chris Christie’s administration.

Released emails and text messages appear to show the lane closures were ordered by one of Christie’s top aides, perhaps as political retribution.

The two liberal activist groups that sponsored the news conference have called for Christie’s resignation. The groups say more than 13,000 people have signed an online petition that asks him to resign.
