The meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon between President Barack Obama and congressional leaders from both parties has been postponed, the White House said.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), House Miniority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Vice President Joe Biden were all slated to attend the meeting, which was originally scheduled to be held at 3 p.m. ET.

The White House said that the meeting has been postponed in order to “allow leaders in the Senate time to continue making important progress towards a solution that raises the debt limit and reopens the government.”
