President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Monday will meet with congressional leaders from both parties, the White House said. The meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET at the White House.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will join Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) at the meeting.
The White House said that Obama “will make clear the need for Congress to act to pay our bills, and reopen the government,” while stressing that he will “not pay a ransom for Congress reopening the government and raising the debt limit.”
