The Obama administration is planning to line up conflicting Obamacare deadlines regarding the individual mandate, an administration official told TPM.

Under the current law, individuals must sign up for health coverage by Feb. 15, 2014, or be charged the mandate penalty. However, the law’s open enrollment period for enrolling in a health plan lasts until March 31. “This is being fixed so that if you sign up for coverage by the end of March, not the end of February, you won’t face a penalty,” the official said in an email.

The administration will issue guidance soon, the official said.
