Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump didn’t rein in his attacks on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)’s wife, Heidi, on Sunday, saying that there were things about his rival’s wife that he “didn’t want to talk about.”
“Well, there are things about Heidi that I don’t want to talk about, but I’m not going to talk about them,” Trump said on ABC News’ “This Week.” “I mean, you know, you can look, but I wouldn’t talk about them.”
Trump tweeted about an anti-Trump ad that used a photo of Melania from a GQ photo shoot and threatened to “spill the beans” on Heidi. Cruz responded on Twitter that his camp didn’t have anything to do with the ad. The next day, Trump retweeted a meme with an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz side by side with a more flattering photo of his wife.
Cruz then told Trump to leave Heidi “the hell alone.”
Trump also said in the ABC interview that Cruz — or his campaign — purchased the rights to the photo in the photoshoot and provided it to the super PAC that created the ad.
“And from what I hear, somebody bought the — the rights to it and he was the one or his campaign bought the rights and they gave it to the super PAC,” Trump said.
