Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) slammed President Obama’s foreign policy approach during a speech at the Americans For Prosperity’s Defending The American Dream Summit in Dallas, Tex.

He dinged Obama on his approach to Russia’s advances into Ukraine and called on the president to be more aggressive towars Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Look at Russia right now,” Cruz said, according to Business Insider. “Sadly, the state of the world is the Russian bear is encountering the Obama kitty cat.”

Cruz stopped short of wishing Obama would act more like Putin, but some conservatives have openly expressed that they wish Putin were in charge.

Fox Host Kimberly Guilfoyle last week wished Putin were charged with confronting ISIS because he would “get it done right.”

During his speech on Saturday, Cruz also tore into Obama for not yet having a strategy for combating ISIS in Syria.

“You’re dealing with monsters who are crucifying Christians and beheading American journalists, when you’re dealing with monsters who are training upwards of 100 Americans right now to come back here and visit the same terror on Americans here,” he said. “Number one, we need to not let into this country any American who is fighting with ISIS. And, number two, ISIS says they want to go back and reject modernity. Well, I think we should help them. We ought to bomb them back to the stone age!”
