Steve Beshear speaks in Frankfort, Ky. Democrats are turning to Beshear, Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt and others to lead a task force to address problems in recent midterm elections. The Democratic National Committee on Thursday named a 10-person panel to examine the party's struggles during the 2014 and 2010 elections and recommend solutions. It aims to figure out why Democrats have struggled to turn out core voters in nonpresidential races and will examine its tactics, messaging and get-out-the-vote operations. (AP Photo/Timothy D. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) said on Monday that he won’t respond to clerk Kim Davis’ recent motion asking the governor to release her from jail while she appeals the contempt of court ruling that landed her behind bars.

Beshear told CNN that it is a “matter between her and the courts.”

The emergency motion filed by Davis’ lawyers on Monday asks for an exemption from Beshear’s order that all clerks issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Her lawyers also filed an appeal of the contempt of court ruling on Sunday.

  1. A big ol’ pile of NOPE.

  2. I saw earlier this morning on TV her lawyers asking that she be able to be exempted from issuing marriage licenses and that the other clerks could take up the slack. Funny they didn’t mention that that was always an option for her and she’s in jail because she refused that weeks ago.

    Hateful bigot screwed herself.

  3. Kim Davis is an ignorant fraud, moral hypocrite, and media parasite. It is only just and fitting that she received shit counsel from a firm meeting the same description.

  4. Weasel! Yes, she intimidated all the other clerks who reported to her and actually threatened their firing if they issued any license w/o her approval. Remember that the judge ordered all the clerks into court for that very reason, since he must have been tipped off to her shenanigans, likely by the prosecution team or the news reporters.
Now, she trying to wriggle free of jail by stating oh, yeah, sure my underlings now can issue said licenses so the problem is solved. Nope! Until and unless she personally orders up a gay license and signs same, the judge will not free her. See, even judges at times can and should make an example of those who defy a SC order. Let her rot, I say!

  5. Kim Davis and Mikey Huckabee are prime examples why the Founding Fathers and writers of the U.S. Constitution insisted on a very real and distinct separation of church and state.

We are free to practice our own religious beliefs in our homes and our churches - but not in our town, state, or federal government!

    Kim Davis - you’re fired!
