The White House announced Friday afternoon a seat at the President’s final State of the Union address guest box will be left empty to honor the victims of gun violence.

President Barack Obama said Wednesday the speech will lay out his goals for his last year and what “big things” Americans can do after he’s left office.

The State of the Union is Jan. 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
