Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) on Wednesday morning dismissed concern that Republicans are struggling to coalesce around a plan to repeal and replace Obamacare now that some conservatives have come out against one draft bill.

“This notion that because there’s five different ideas about it, that’s a sign of weakness — is ridiculous,” the senator said on “Fox and Friends.” “Should we all be marching like robots in lockstep listening to whatever they mandate down our throat? Should we be voting for a law that we’ll find out what’s in it after we pass it the way the Democrats did a few years ago?”

“It’s a good thing that there are a lot of different ideas. That means a lot of people are thinking about it. That’s how you come up with good public policy,” Rubio continued. “And somehow, nowadays, having different ideas and bringing them together and trying to figure out the right way forward is a sign of weakness. That’s ridiculous.”

He assured the hosts of “Fox and Friends” that Republicans are “going to get there” with a repeal and replace plan, but he said that they will “do it the right way.”

Rubio’s insistence that Republicans are engaging in a healthy debate about healthcare comes as some conservative members have objected to a draft proposal that would provide some Americans with refundable tax credits to help pay for health insurance.
