Roger Stone, a longtime Donald Trump ally, said in a Monday interview that he believes the candidate should go ahead and release his tax returns.
“I think he should release his tax returns immediately,” Stone said in a segment flagged by BuzzFeed News on the “Fernand Amandi Show” on Miami’s 610 WIOD radio.
Earlier Monday, Hillary Clinton’s campaign also challenged Trump to “stop hiding behind fake excuses and release his tax returns” after the GOP nominee said the “corrupt” Clinton Foundation should be shuttered.
For months, Trump has insisted that he cannot release his own tax returns, citing an ongoing audit as the cause for the delay. The IRS, for its part, has said that an audit would not prevent Trump from releasing the forms.
