Roger Stone, former adviser to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, told HuffPost Live on Friday that the GOP candidate will come in third, if the party doesn’t nominate the real estate mogul.
“If he’s not treated fairly, if he’s not given a level playing field, if he’s not given a fair shot at the nomination, sure, he could run Independent!” Stone told Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani on Friday. “And if he does you know what could happen? The Democrats would probably win, Trump would run a close second, and the Republicans would run third. They can then go the way of the Whigs.”
Trump needs to emphasize his record on women, Stone said.
“He’s better on pay equality for women than Hillary Clinton. Hillary has paid women less in every job where she was the boss: the Senate, the State Department, the Clinton Foundation. women make less than men. So, she’s a fraud,” Stone said.
Trump has “more women executives, women in many cases are paid more than men to equal to men,” according to Stone.
Trump has been criticized for his misogyny and brashness, the latter of which his supporters describe as an asset.
Stone replied to those accusations, too: “There’s a difference between being a pop culture figure and running for president.”

What has become readily apparent is that, for Trump, “not being treated fairly” means being denied the Republican nomination. In other words, “heads I win, tails you lose.”
“Stonac, the Magnificent”
There’s no “probably” to it, Stone. The Democrats would mollywhop both Trump and the Republicans, but I do think he might be right that Trump would beat the Republican in the race, particularly if it’s Jeb! or someone equally as boring.
From your lips to the good Lord’s ears, Stone!
Boring equals safe in some minds – when you look at what John Ellis Bush has actually done he’s terrifying. Pond scum. Flesh eating bacteria. Something of that sort.
Stone’s “firing” is increasingly looking like a sham.
