Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s (R) political action committee is looking to literally profit off of the governor’s indictment.
With a $25 donation to RickPAC, supporters will receive a tee-shirt with Perry’s mugshot. The tees read, “WANTED (For securing the border and defeating Democrats).”
The back of the T-shirt features Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg. Perry was indicted for carrying out a threat to veto funding for the public integrity unit unless Lehmberg resigned following a drunk driving incident.
RickPAC raises funds to support “conservatives who will work to secure our nation’s border, reduce the debt for future generations, and – unlike so many in Washington – focus on achieving results.”
A spokesperson for Perry told the Wall Street Journal that the governor’s legal fees would be paid with campaign funds.
Perry has been using the indictment to bash Democrats for launching a political attack through the legal system. Before he entered the courthouse for his mugshot, Perry gave a fervent statement in which he vowed to “fight this injustice with every fiber of my being.”
Many legal experts say charges against Perry appear to be pretty weak, and the indictment may end up boosting the governor’s chances in 2016.
I think Rick Perry will introduce a new item into the lexicon of American English. I think the term “smugshot” will accompany this image wherever it goes.
I’ll have to check out Sixth Street in Austin this weekend to see how many of the T-Shirts are used as dart boards.
When life gives you shit you make shit sandwiches and sell them to stupid people.
“Many legal experts say charges against Perry appear to be pretty weak, and the indictment may end up boosting the governor’s chances in 2016.”
Nothing could boost the GOP chances but sanity in a candidate. Losing CA, NY, FL, IL and PA is a sure way to defeat. Perry is right on par with Santorum and Newt, a sure loser, after fleecing his followers.
The judge that assigned the case is a Republican…he also picked a Republican Prosecutor.
How is this the Democrats fault again ?
