Protesters dusted in snow massed outside the Fox Theater in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday night ahead of the start of the Republican presidential debate hosted by Fox News.

MLive.com reported that the National Action Network’s Michigan chapter had scheduled a protest outside the venue to draw attention to the Flint water crisis, which exposed thousands of children to lead contamination. Many of the activists held signs calling for the resignation of Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R).

The protesters also included activists from pro-immigration groups, Black Lives Matter and the Fight for $15 movement to raise the minimum wage, according to the report.

Why can’t we have this in the U.S.? This should be the standard to judge all Republicans by.

  5. Beautiful. Democracy in action. Maybe not so much inside the gorgeous Fox Theatre, but thankfully they’re outside making their voices heard. There’s a petition drive starting on primary day to have Snyder recalled in a special election, which would come on the next general election date. Its been tried before, so there’s no way of knowing if this time it will succeed…but hey, worth another go at it.

    From ballotpedia:

Michigan recalls have become significantly harder after Snyder approved changes to the state laws governing recalls in 2012 that require stronger charges against officials and faster signature collection. No state officials have been recalled since the laws were passed.

Fucking weasel figured this would be coming his way again and tried to cut petitioners off at the knees so they wouldn’t have a way forward this time.
