An Ultra-Orthodox Jewish man attacked revelers with a knife at Jerusalem’s annual gay pride parade on Thursday afternoon. Sebastian Scheiner, a photographer with the Associated Press happened to be there and captured the chaotic scene, including the moment right before the man pulled out the knife. Six young attendees were wounded in the attack.
The alleged attacker, Yishai Schlissel, was recently released from jail for committing almost exactly the same crime at a 2005 pride parade in Israel. He was arrested on the scene.

These Ultra-Orthodox Jews are the same sort of people as the ultra-conservative Muslims who assassinate female activists in Pakistan or American Evangelical Christians who murder doctors. The precise nature of the God they pray to and the particulars of their religious practices may differ, but at bottom they’re filled with hatred for anybody outside of their own religious and cultural tribe, a hatred so deep that they have no moral qualms about killing anybody outside their group.
