Phil Robertson, patriarch of the “Duck Dynasty” clan, has endorsed his nephew, Zach Dasher, in his bid for incumbent Rep. Vance McAllister’s (R-LA) seat. Dasher is one of six Republicans vying for McAllister’s seat, after McAllister was caught kissing a former staffer in April.
The new radio ad features Robertson and his wife, Kay Robertson, as they state their support for their nephew’s campaign.
“I’m Kay Robertson and I’m voting for Zach Dasher,” Kay says, before Robertson gives his endorsement.
“I’m Phil Robertson and I’m voting for Zach, my nephew,” he says. “He’s been officially and thoroughly vetted by the Robertson clan.”
Phil Robertson’s endorsement is particularly significant because the patriarch previously endorsed McAllister during his first run and subsequent win when he was a little-known businessman. After a video depicting McAllister kissing a staffer, who was not his wife, surfaced, Robertson criticized him.
“The last dude last year fed us a lie,” Robertson said earlier this month at a fundraiser for Dash. “I don’t even know the dude.”
In spite of the scandal, McAllister is still a contender in the race and recently released his first ad, which features him seated alongside his wife and addresses the cheating allegations.

“He’s been officially and thoroughly vetted by the Robertson clan.”
Well, ain’t that special.
That means that Zach probably just locked up the straight-men-who-are-obsessed-with-where-gay-men-put-their-penises voter demographic.
Cheating allegations? I am confused, when you have photographic evidence isn’t that clear enough to indict? But never mind, as long as he kisses women there is nothing sinful or significant in the actions.
Do spouses of politicians know going into the marriages that they will at some point have to do the humiliating “yes I know he is an a&&, but the money is good and I don’t want to one of those divorcee floozies my mother told me about”?
So that’s what they call the Deliverance “squeal” routine these days?
And this is worthy of space at TPM why?
