Rep. Vance McAllister (R-LA) and his wife released a new where the couple describes how “blessed” they feel in their marriage and where the congressman’s wife praises McAllister for owning up to his mistakes —a clear reference to McAllister getting caught kissing another woman.

McAllister is the self-styled staunch social conservative congressman who was caught in a video earlier in the year smooching a staffer who was not his wife. In the aftermath of that video surfacing McAllister initially said he would not run for re-election but then changed his mind in June.

The ad, released Monday, of McAllister and his wife, Kelly, starts out with the congressman saying “life is filled with ups and downs.”

“But a man’s character is based on how many times he gets back up and stands again,” Kelly McAllister said.

The congressman then said he is “blessed” to have a “great family and wonderful Christian wife.”

“I’m blessed to have a husband who owns up to his mistakes, never gives up —always fighting for the good people of Louisiana,” Kelly McAllister said.

McAllister is facing a handful of challengers in his re-election effort, most notably the Club for Growth-backed Zach Dasher, who is close to the “Duck Dynasty” family. McAllister, before becoming the “kissing congressman,” received attention for taking “Duck Dynasty” star willie Robertson to the State of the Union in January.

Do you suppose she hopes there aren’t many more of those blessings to count?

  2. I saw this ad last night. My heart really does go out to the wives of these philandering congressmen who force them to go on national television and “stand by their man”. To endure what I’m sure is a deeply humiliating thing all so their husband can try to bamboozle the public in to re-electing them.

Another Stepford political wife. Very sad.

  4. When exactly did he take responsibility?

  5. Umm…hello…he cried to the baby Jeebus and “owned up to it”, so it’s all good!

Btw, I love the phrasing “owned up to it”, like he had a choice. I mean, it wasn’t like there was video of him making out with his staffer or anything
