During former Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s (R) confirmation hearing Thursday, the energy secretary nominee accidentally let slip a “’Saturday Night Live’ sound bite” that temporarily derailed questioning.

“Did you enjoy meeting me?” Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) asked Perry.

“I hope you’re as much fun on that dais as you were on your couch,” he responded, to a grimace from Franken.

“May I rephrase that, sir,” he asked after a beat.

“Please,” Franken replied dryly. “Please. Oh my lord.”

“Well, I think we found our ‘Saturday Night Live’ soundbite,” Perry told the senator, who was a cast member on the famed comedy show.
