Ottawa police said Wednesday afternoon that contrary to earlier reports, no shooting incident had occurred earlier in the day near a major downtown shopping mall.
Police said in a news release that they could confirm shooting incidents did occur at the National War Memorial and on Parliament Hill, but said no incident had occurred near the Rideau Centre, which is located a block away from the War Memorial.
Police confirmed that a member of the Canadian Forces who was shot in the mayhem had died.
A male suspect was also confirmed dead. Police said they had no one else in custody at this point, although Constable Chuck Benoit told Fox News earlier in the day that police were looking for “possibly three” suspects.
Sympathetic thoughts and prayers for the murdered soldier and his family.
Although the perp can no longer talk, I’m hoping that a thorough investigation can discover what made this man tick.
