In the span of one day, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) came out against cutting entitlements and for cutting entitlements.

On Monday afternoon, he tweeted a quote of his in Reuters attacking the cuts enacted under Obamacare to private insurers under Medicare Advantage.

Then on Tuesday, he criticized President Obama for failing to “get serious” about entitlement reform. (Obama withdrew support for cutting Social Security benefits last week.)

Hatch is the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, which has jurisdiction over entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security.
