President Obama will deliver a statement on the crisis at the southwest border in Texas on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. ET.

Obama will be in Texas to attend Democratic fundraisers and initially did not plan to visit the border or address the humanitarian crisis there.

Republicans, including Texas Gov. Rick Perry, criticized Obama for not planning to visit the border or discuss the crisis with local officials.
