President Barack Obama met on Friday with Dallas nurse Nina Pham after she was declared cured of the Ebola virus.

The White House announced the event in the Oval Office one hour before it was scheduled to happen, reserving a few moments before the meeting for photo-only press coverage.

Pham had contracted the virus while treating an infected patient at a hospital in Dallas. She was released on Friday from the National Institutes of Health hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

The meeting came within one day of a New York City patient being reportedly diagnosed with the Ebola virus.
