President Obama has been briefed on the shootings in Ottawa, Canada, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Wednesday afternoon.

Earnest said that the details of the shootings that took place at the Ottawa War Memorial and inside Canadian Parliament are still “sketchy.”

He added that U.S. officials have been in touch with Canadian officials and that the White House requested a call between President Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
