CNN’s Wolf Blitzer apologized on-air for misidentifying former First Lady Nancy Reagan ahead of Wednesday’s 6 p.m. CNN debate.

“It’s so exciting to see Nancy Reagan, 94 years old, and she’s here. She’ll be enjoying this evening I’m sure,” Blitzer said, as the camera panned to a woman in a green suit.

Later in the broadcast, Blitzer apologized to viewers.

“By the way, we want to apologize to our viewers. We thought we saw Nancy Reagan here in the hall. We are now told that was not Nancy Reagan,” Blitzer said. “We’re going to find out what exactly happened, but that’s an apology from all of us here.”
