Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) is angry at President Barack Obama’s decision to revert Mt. McKinley to its Alaska Native name.

According to an interview with the Washington Post on Monday night, Turner described himself and his constituents as “furious” and said he will be begin a “congressional effort for legislative action” when Congress returns form recess.

“The Ohio delegation certainly didn’t hear about this from the president,” Turner told the Post. “I’m certain he didn’t notify President McKinley’s descendants, who find this outrageous. Clearly this is a president who is not concerned with the deliberative process.”

He’s represented southwest Ohio since 2003.

Turner questioned Obama’s authority to revert the mountain to Denali, the name commonly used by Alaskans (including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin).

“There are a number of avenues, all of which can be pursued,” Turner told the Post. “The question is whether the president even has the authority to do this.”
