Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) promised Thursday that the Republican “solution” to the historic reform of the filibuster will come during the next election.

“The solution to this problem is at the ballot box,” McConnell said, as quoted by the New York Times. “We look forward to having a great election.”

McConnell was one of several Republicans who criticized the changes to filibuster rules for judicial and executive nominees, arguing that the move was a ploy by Democrats to distract from the problems associated with Obamacare.

He will be up for re-election in 2014.
