Paul Manafort’s attorney Kevin Downing responded to President Donald Trump’s expression of sympathy on Friday for his former campaign chairman going through a “very sad” trial.
According to CNN, Downing told reporters outside the federal courthouse in Virginia, where a jury is deliberating the case, that the team “really appreciates the support of President Trump.”
Hoping a juror or two will break the rules and watch the evening news, I take it.
Good thing the President has nothing to hide and this is all a witch hunt – otherwise I’d really be getting worried that I was living in some kind of banana republic where the President can just pardon his cronies to protect himself.
Presidents are not supposed to comment on an ongoing trial.
Why didn’t they call him as a character witness?
Is he fishing for a new client?
