Vance McAllister, a Republican of Louisiana, waits to be sworn in at the Capitol in Washington. McAllister says he's asking his family and constituents for forgiveness after a West Monroe newspaper published a video that it says shows the congressman kissing a female staffer in his congressional office in Monroe, La. McAllister, only in office a little over four months, attracted national attention because of his endorsement from the bearded men of the "Duck Dynasty" reality TV show. (AP Photo/J. The chairman of the Louisiana Republican Party has been trying to reach Rep. Vance McAllister (R-LA) to ask him to resign since Tuesday night, a source close to the state party told The Hill on Wednesday.

Chairman Roger Villere has contacted McAllister, who was caught kissing his staffer, via phone and email, but has yet to get through, according to the Hill.

Villere has only been able to get in touch with McAllister’s chief of staff, but not the congressman himself.

Melissa Peacock, the district scheduler McAllister was caught kissing, has resigned, but the congressman has said that he will not step down.

McAllister apologized on Monday.

“There’s no doubt I’ve fallen short and I’m asking for forgiveness,” he said in a statement. “I’m asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve.”
