Jon Stewart berated the state of Arizona on Wednesday night after its legislature passed an anti-gay discrimination bill and sent it to Gov. Jan Brewer’s (R) desk for approval.
Brewer vetoed the legislation Wednesday evening, explaining that it did “not address a specific or present concern related to religious liberty in Arizona.”
That didn’t stop the Comedy Central host from ridiculing the Grand Canyon State in two segments, noting its previous stringent laws on abortion and racial profiling.
“You are lucky you’re warm.” Stewart said. Arizona would be “the world’s largest condom and nuclear waste dump” without its climate, he added.
“This is where you are now, Arizona,” he added in another segment. “You’ve made yourself too homophobic and dickish for professional football.”
Prior to Brewer’s veto of the bill, the National Football League began exploring moving next year’s Super Bowl out of Arizona.
