CNN “State of the Union” host Jake Tapper relentlessly pressed presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in an interview aired Sunday and questioned the candidate on whether he considered the comments he made about the federal judge presiding over his case racist.
Trump had said that U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel‘s “Mexican heritage” is a conflict of interest in the case. Curiel is presiding over the case against Trump University.
Tapper noted to Trump that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton called the comment racist. Tapper then followed up on the topic 23 times. Eventually, Trump told him he didn’t think it was racist.
“No, I don’t think so at all,” Trump said.
Here’s a mashup of Tapper’s persistence by The Washington Post:
“No, saying that someone’s race makes them unable to be fair and rational isn’t racist. It’s … uh, he’s not being nice to me!”
Didn’t you already post pretty much this same story, Sara? Am I missing something?
I also had the feeling it was déjà vu all over again, and it’s no more interesting the second time around. Reporter persists, trumpf resists. Meanwhile there’s a female candidate who goes unnoticed.
this stupid argument is the same argument that conservatives tried to use against Vaughn Walker in the California case against Prop 8…
that because the judge was openly out he wouldn’t be unbiased…
just change the stereotype when you don’t like the judge…
I think the difference is this is a mashup pointing to Tapper’s persistence in asking this blowhard a fundamental question straight-on, and showing how willing Donnie Dipshit was in going out of his way by avoiding answering one basic question repeatedly. Its more of a defense of Tapper…in that, at least he tried…It also shows the lengths Drumpf will go to to avoid answering questions that he knows make him look bad. In the process however, not answering and coming up with bogus word salad makes him look equally as bad…but he doesn’t seem to realize that or care.
