Former NSA Chief Michael Hayden on Thursday disputed some claims that liberal activist Tom Matzzie made while live-tweeting a shared a New York bound train.
Hayden told the Washington Post that Matzzie “got it terribly wrong.”
Matzzie overheard multiple off-the-record phone conversations that Hayden held with various reporters one seat over, in which Hayden was bashing the administration, according to Mazzie.
But Hayden disputes Matzzie’s account.
“I didn’t criticize the president,” Hayden told the Washington Post. “I actually said these are very difficult issues. I said I had political guidance, too, that limited the things that I did when I was director of NSA. Now that political guidance [for current officials] is going to be more robust. It wasn’t a criticism.”
