Vladimir Putin did not speak to Elton John, despite what the famous musician posted on social media, a spokesman for Putin told reporters Tuesday, according to the New York Times.

John posted on Instagram Tuesday that he had talked with Putin about meeting in Russia to discuss LGBT rights.

“This does not correspond to reality. There was no conversation,” a spokesman for Putin told reporters, according to the Times.

The spokesman suggested that the Instagram post was not actually from John, according to the publication.

John had not deleted his Instagram post as of Tuesday evening:
