Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday that GOP rival George Pataki did a “terrible” job as governor of New York — which elicited a response from the GOP hopeful.
The next Republican debate is scheduled to take place Sept. 16.
Trump is no stranger to insulting his fellow Republicans on social media — last week he tweeted about Republican presidential candidate and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
It seemingly started when Pataki tweeted that he would not endorse Trump if he were made the Republican nominee.
Let me be very plain, I’m not going to vote for @RealDonaldTrump …He is unfit to be president @chucktodd @meetthepress @foxnewssunday #MTP

Here’s Trump’s tweet about Pataki:
Why is someone like George Pataki, who did a terrible job as Governor of N.Y. and registers ZERO in the polls, allowed on the debate stage?
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 13, 2015
To which Pataki responded:
Why is a serially bankrupt @RealDonaldTrump who insults Mexicans, Women, Blacks, Jews & POW’s on #2016 debate stage? #TajMahal #TrumpCastle

Pataki added:
I would hope that every one of my fellow candidates will stand up & say our party cannot nominate @RealDonaldTrump @ScottWalker @GovChristie
