Dennis Rodman on Wednesday sang a very tone-deaf verse from “Happy Birthday” to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un before a crowd of clapping spectators, finishing it off with a bow.
A basketball game with North Korean players followed that rousing rendition of the birthday song, which was apparently a poignant moment for Rodman. “I think this is a very historical day today, for everyone in the world to see that we can coexist with each other,” he told Sky News after the game.
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) would likely disagree. Appearing on CNN, he called Rodman a person of “not great intellect who doesn’t understand that he really does provide propaganda for this very brutal ruthless young man.”
