LATE UPDATE, July 5, 2016, 4:56 PM ET: As of Tuesday afternoon, Duke had co-opted Trump’s original tweet with the six-point star to push his own agenda.
He rated Trump’s message that Clinton is the “most corrupt candidate ever” as “absolutely true,” declaring her top donors “all Zio-Tribalists” in his pinned tweet.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Avid Donald Trump supporter and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke was a big fan of the presumptive GOP nominee’s controversial tweet over the weekend, which was widely read as anti-Semitic.
After the Trump camp pulled an anti-Hillary Clinton tweet that included a six-point star and posted an edited version, Duke tweeted Saturday that he welcomes the exposure of “the hidden hand.”
Seems something changed? That’s ok, we welcome the hidden hand exposing itself.#MakeAmericaGreatAgain#AmericaFirst pic.twitter.com/BqTfHQIPnV

Trump’s original tweet featured a meme, apparently plumbed from a corner of the white supremacist internet, labeling Clinton the “most corrupt candidate ever,” inside a six-point star and overlaid on a bed of money.
Trump later claimed the image was a “sheriff’s star” and blamed the “dishonest media” for labeling the image a Star of David.
Because of course he did. Meet the core of Donald Trump’s support in America. Trump would be nothing without the deep-seated racism and hatred that permeates the modern conservative movement.
Just own it, Donald. These are your people.
Why am I not surprised…
Yes.
We want the White supremacists to not only acknowledge what Rump’s tweet represented but gratefully acknowledge that they really liked what it stood for. Whatever insipid and unbelievable “damage control” Rump’s campaign tries to do, his true core constituents counteract it with their heartfelt support.
I believe Trump. It’s just a Sheriff’s Star, not an anti-Semitic Star of David.
Just like when he decides to re-tweet a Swastika, it will be entirely in honor of ancient Sanskrit and a celebration of Hinduism…
Actually, the hidden hands are the two star points poking out from underneath the circle. They say two things: (1) We can’t increase the radius of this circle to blot out the star points because if we do that the circle will obscure Clinton’s eye and deflect from the message, and (2) we kind of like the star points peeking out from under the circle, cuz that’s enough to twist the nipples of our white supremacist friends.
